Twitter Enjoys RR’s Stunning Chase as PBKS’ Unbeaten Run Ends
Rajasthan Royals chased down 223 to defeat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets. Donovan Ferreira smashed 52 off 26, while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 51. Earlier, Marcus Stoinis blasted 62 off 22 to power PBKS to 222 for 4, but RR reached 228 for 4 in 19.2 overs.
Punjab Kings looked in complete control for most of the night in New Chandigarh, but the match slipped away in a way they would not have expected. After being asked to bat first, PBKS made full use of the conditions and piled up 222 for 4. Prabhsimran Singh played his part at the top with a steady 59, keeping things moving without taking too many risks. The innings, though, really took off at the back end. Marcus Stoinis walked in and went straight on the attack. He did not take long to settle, and once he got going, the bowlers had no answers.
His unbeaten 62 came off just 22 balls, and that final-over burst, in which he collected 24 runs in 5 balls, gave Punjab a total that felt more than enough. At that stage, it honestly looked like PBKS had done the hard work. Rajasthan Royals, however, came out with clear intent. Yashasvi Jaiswal looked comfortable from the start and brought up a well-paced 51. What really hurt Punjab early on was Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The youngster went after the bowling without hesitation, hitting 43 off 16 balls and putting the pressure straight back on PBKS.
Even then, the game was not gone. Yuzvendra Chahal brought Punjab back into it with 3 wickets, and for a few overs, RR slowed down just enough to give PBKS hope. It felt like one more wicket could turn things. That moment never came. Instead, Donovan Ferreira and Shubham Dubey kept things simple. There was no panic, no unnecessary risks. Ferreira picked his shots well and stayed till the end, finishing unbeaten on 52 off 26 balls.
Dubey played the perfect support role but did not hold back either, scoring 31 off just 12. Between them, they made sure the asking rate never got out of hand. Rajasthan Royals finished at 228 for 4 in 19.2 overs, chasing it down with 6 wickets left. For PBKS, it will sting a bit. Scoring over 220 usually wins games, but their bowling at the death just did not hold up. For RR, this is the kind of chase that can really lift a side going into the business end of the tournament.
