Pant, a cornerstone of the DC lineup since 2016, was not retained by the franchise this season, sparking widespread speculation about the reasons behind the move.
Pant responded firmly to legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar’s allegations that he had demanded a higher salary to remain with the franchise. Refuting the claims, Pant stated that money was not a factor in his non-retention, hinting instead at deeper issues with the team management. He clarified in a statement:
My retention wasn’t about the money for sure that I can say.
