Social media was flooded with funny memes after the surprising franchise changes. Rishabh Pant, who led Delhi Capitals in IPL 2024, grabbed attention by becoming the most expensive player in IPL history. The Lucknow Super Giants spent an astonishing Rs 27 crore to sign the talented left-handed batter during the mega auction.

Pant’s record-breaking Rs 27 crore deal with Lucknow Super Giants surpassed Shreyas Iyer’s Rs 26.75 crore bid from Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 auction. Pant’s move to LSG set a new milestone in IPL history and triggered countless jokes online, especially about how KL Rahul was treated during his time with the team. Regarding this, Harsh Goenka said:

After leading Lucknow Super Giants since their debut in 2022, KL Rahul joined Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. Following the switch, social media was filled with funny memes, including a popular one showing KL Rahul playfully warning Rishabh Pant about LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, adding humour to the dramatic player swap. To this tweet, Sanjiv Goenka revealed that:

Well, I haven’t seen the meme, but I can say this much: the boss is loving, caring, and yes, tough too. When love is needed, he gives love; when care is needed, he shows care. And when a bit of scolding is required, he doesn’t shy away from that either.

There was speculation about tension between KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka after the incident. In the end, Lucknow Super Giants decided not to keep Rahul for the 2025 season and didn’t use their Right to Match Card.
