ICC Champions Trophy 2025: Rashid Latif Calls to Scrap the Tournament Amid PCB-BCCI Venue Dispute

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been a major challenge for the ICC due to a venue-related dispute. It has involved the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Board of Control for Cricket in India, leading to a significant tussle between the two boards over where the tournament should be held.

Rashid Latif called for the ICC Champions Trophy to be scrapped, suggesting that the PCB should make the decision before the BCCI rejects it. He argued that Pakistan has often been used as a scapegoat and that the ICC cannot stand up to the BCCI. He said:

Champions Trophy 2025 shouldn’t happen at all. Before they refuse to play, you should refuse. The development that came last evening was that we have always been made scapegoats. ECB, ACB, and ICC are all the same; they cannot fight BCCI. They have got the chance to push Pakistan back. It’s good we are fighting, but the fear is if India boycotts, then where do we stand? This should be taken into consideration before doing anything.

Due to security concerns, the India National Cricket Team has refused to travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy. As a result, the tournament is now expected to be held in a Hybrid model to accommodate the restrictions and ensure player safety.
