ICC Champions Trophy 2025: India Faces Pressure on Pakistan Tour Decision

Recently, a meeting was conducted by the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the upcoming edition of the Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan. This meeting took place in Dubai and the main discussions were related to the arrangements and the security concerns for the same.

Along with these, some discussions even took place for the Indian team travelling to Pakistan for the tournament. All the teams which are participating in the Champions Trophy have agreed to travel to Pakistan, except India. The BCCI said the same, saying that they will need permission from the Indian Government before sending players to Pakistan due to the relations between these two countries.

Cricket Pakistan has reported that the meeting has been beneficial for Pakistan, as there were no concerns related to security being raised by any of the participating nations. This also means that India doesn’t have further reasons to deny travelling to Pakistan. During the Asia Cup 2023, which was scheduled in Pakistan, India had all their matches, including the final being held in Sri Lanka.

Recently, the Indian Foreign Affair Minister also visited Pakistan, which might also add as another reason why India can’t deny the visit for the Champions Trophy. Although the Pakistan Cricket Board is confident in hosting the tournament with full safety, the ICC is also concerned that India might deny participating from the tournament. India last travelled to Pakistan in the year 2008, for the Asia Cup.
