BBL 2025: BBL 2024-25 Sees Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood Bolster Supplementary Draft Lists

BBL 2024-25 is all set to be exciting for the fans as Australia’s premier pacers Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood have been added to the supplementary lists for the upcoming season. While the trio may not participate extensively due to international commitments, this move keeps the door open for their inclusion. The league kicks off on December 15 with Perth Scorchers taking on Melbourne Stars at Optus Stadium.

Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc are part of Sydney Sixers’ supplementary roster, while Pat Cummins joins Sydney Thunder. Sixers’ general manager Rachael Haynes expressed excitement about re-engaging Starc and Hazlewood, calling it a boost for the team. He said:

Mitch and Josh are both foundation members of our club and have been a part of the Sixers for a long time, so any opportunity for us to engage them throughout the season is a win for our club and a win for our fans. Both of the guys have great relationships with (coach) Greg (Shipperd) and the playing group and having them involved in any capacity will always be a boost for our group. Mitch and Josh have been a part of the fabric of our club, and we’re excited for them to be back as part of the Sixers family this summer.

Cummins, though unlikely to play, praised the squad and emphasized David Warner’s full-season availability as a major advantage for the Thunder. Hazlewood last played in BBL09, helping the Sixers clinch the title. Cummins featured in BBL08, and Starc’s last appearance was in 2014. Their addition adds significant star power to the tournament.
