Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy: Fiery Exchange Between Nitish Rana and Ayush Badoni Sparks Buzz in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy
During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarterfinal on December 11 at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Nitish Rana played for Uttar Pradesh against Delhi. While fielding during Delhi's innings Rana had a heated argument with Ayush Badoni, his former teammate from Delhi.
During the 13th over of Delhi’s innings, bowled by Nitish Rana, Ayush Badoni and Anuj Rawat were batting. After Badoni played a shot and took a single, Rana approached him at the non-striker’s end and said something sparking a heated exchange. The two players moved aggressively toward each other, exchanging words before the on-field intervened to separate them.
A social media user shared a video of the heated exchange between Rana and Badoni, which quickly went viral. Badoni also played a key role by dismissing UP captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the match. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave away 34 runs in his four overs and scored 20 runs off 13 balls before being caught by Himmat Singh in the 19th over of the chase.
Nitish Rana, a former India player and KKR captain in IPL 2023, moved from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh for domestic cricket last year. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy quarterfinal on Wednesday, the left-handed batter couldn’t contribute much to Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s team.
Batting at No.4 in the 194-run chase, Nitish Rana was expected for Uttar Pradesh but managed only 2 runs from three balls. Ayush Badoni dismissed him on the third ball of the seventh over, cutting short his innings and dealing a blow to the team’s hopes.
