Nabi’s Brave Fight Falls Short as Taskin’s Five-Wicket Haul Sends Afghanistan to 235 in Sharjah ODI

Afghan power hitter Mohammad Nabi fell just short of a well-deserved century when Taskin Ahmed dismissed him in the final overs. Batting at number seven, Nabi smashed 84 runs from just 79 balls before Taskin ended his impressive innings towards the close of the game.

In the 48th over, Nabi was pushing for a strong finish for Afghanistan. He had come in to bat with the team struggling at 71 for five and he built a crucial sixth-wicket partnership with captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, helping to stabilize the innings and give Afghanistan a fighting chance in the match.

Though Shahidi and Rashid Khan were dismissed, Mohammad Nabi continued to fight on his own, pushing Afghanistan’s score past 200. Unfortunately, he couldn’t reach his century, as Taskin eventually took his crucial wicket toward the end of his innings.

Taskin Ahmed bowled a short ball to Nabi, who tried to hit for a six. However, Nabi only managed a top edge and Tanzid Hasan easily caught the ball, ending his lengthy innings. Despite looking on track for a century, Nabi walked off after scoring 84 runs, contributing greatly to Afghanistan’s total.

Afghanistan struggled early in the game, with Mustafizur Rahman dismissing their top order and leaving them at 35 for four. However, Nabi and Shahid Afridi built a strong partnership, helping Afghanistan reach a competitive total. After getting Nabi out, Taskin Ahmed took more wickets, completing a five-wicket haul as Afghanistan was all out for 235 in the first ODI.
