Mumbai Indians Name Three Replacements Ahead of IPL 2025 Playoffs

Mumbai Indians replaced Will Jacks, Ryan Rickleton, and Corbin Bosch — who are leaving for national duties — with Jonny Bairstow (INR 5.25 Cr), Richard Gleeson (INR 1 Cr), and Charith Asalanka (INR 75 Lakhs). These players join only if MI qualify. With 14 points from 12 games, MI must beat DC and PBKS to seal a playoff spot.

With the IPL 2025 playoffs approaching, Mumbai Indians have made significant changes to their squad due to the departure of three overseas players — Will Jacks, Ryan Rickleton, and Corbin Bosch — who are set to join their respective national teams. Jacks will head to the West Indies for England’s white-ball series, while Rickleton and Bosch are part of South Africa’s squad for the WTC final against Australia.

To fill the gaps, Mumbai has roped in Jonny Bairstow (INR 5.25 crore), Richard Gleeson (INR 1 crore), and Charith Asalanka (INR 75 lakhs) as replacements. All three were unsold at the mega auction but will now feature in the playoffs, provided Mumbai qualifies. Mumbai Indians currently stand with 14 points from 12 matches, battling Delhi Capitals (13 points in 12 matches) for the final playoff spot. Both teams face each other and Punjab Kings in their remaining games.

If Mumbai wins both matches, they secure qualification; otherwise, they risk elimination. Notably, Bairstow will represent his third IPL franchise after stints with SRH and Punjab Kings, while Asalanka is set to make his IPL debut. The pressure is high as the five-time champions fight for survival in a tightly contested season.
