MS Dhoni sustained a knee injury during CSK’s 5-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants on April 13, ending their five-match losing streak. Dhoni, who shared an unbeaten 57-run stand with Shivam Dube, was seen limping post-match. With captain Ruturaj Gaikwad already injured, CSK now fears a major setback ahead of their April 20 clash vs MI.

After being the hero in Chennai Super Kings’ crucial 5-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants on April 13, MS Dhoni’s injury has raised fresh concerns for the IPL 2025 campaign. CSK snapped their five-match losing streak with this victory, successfully chasing down a 167-run target after being 111/5 in 15 overs. Dhoni and Shivam Dube’s unbeaten 57-run partnership sealed the win, but Dhoni’s visible discomfort overshadowed the result.

The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman was seen limping post-match, both on the field and in a team hotel video circulating online. The issue stems from a recurring knee problem that has troubled him for the last two years. Dhoni even underwent surgery on the same knee following CSK’s title win in 2023. This persistent injury is one reason he bats lower down the order now.

The situation is even more worrisome for CSK as they have already lost regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad to an elbow injury. With their next clash set against the Mumbai Indians on April 20, the five-time champions will be hoping Dhoni recovers in time. Head coach Stephen Fleming had earlier admitted that Dhoni’s physical condition requires careful management, and any further setbacks could jeopardize CSK’s playoff hopes this season.
