After leaving the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise for the IPL 2025, KL Rahul has garnered significant attention. LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka reflected on Rahul’s tenure, calling him “family” and praising his talent. Rahul led LSG for three seasons, playing 38 matches and amassing 1410 runs.

Despite reports of a strained relationship before the IPL 2025 mega-auction, Goenka wished Rahul well, describing him as a “gentle human being” and expressing hope for his success with Team India and in future IPL campaigns. He said:

Look KL has always been a family to me, and always will be. Not only he led LSG for three years, but also performed really well. So, I can only wish well for him, no matter what. He’s a gentle human being and good things happen to such people. He’s talented and uber-talented for sure. Hopefully, his talent comes out well for Team India. I am sure, both LSG and Rahul will do well in the new phase.

Rahul’s departure marked a new chapter as Delhi Capitals secured him for a hefty INR 14 crore. Speculations about him leading the franchise in IPL 2025 are strong, though no official confirmation has been made.

Meanwhile, Rahul is representing India in the ongoing Test series against Australia. While he performed well in the opening match, his struggles in the Adelaide Test raised questions about his batting position. Despite this, Team India is expected to continue backing him as an opener.
