Under his leadership, RCB adopted a more aggressive approach, crossing 200 runs four times. For IPL 2025, RCB revamped their squad, adding players like Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone.
With an amazing IPL 2024 season, Virat Kohli will be seen again in the RCB colors as he is all set to lead the franchise’s aggressive batting revolution in IPL 2025. Kohli’s stellar form was a key factor in RCB’s remarkable turnaround, propelling them from the bottom of the table to a playoff spot.
He finished the season with 741 runs in 15 matches, including 38 sixes, at a strike rate of 154.69, securing the Orange Cap for the second time in his career. Kohli’s leadership inspired a shift in RCB’s approach, embracing a more aggressive batting strategy, which saw them crossing the 200-run mark four times in the second half of the season. To this, Mo Bobat said:
Virat scored runs throughout the competition, even in that initial period when we weren’t getting results. But even he, midway through, said, “Right, I’m going to lead the way here; we can all be more aggressive”. It was brilliant to see him talk that through with the rest of the batting group and back his words up with action. I’ve got no doubt that he’ll want to maintain that moving forward. I certainly won’t be, and Andy certainly won’t be, sending the team out with somebody having the intent to drop anchor. That isn’t what’s required. We want to make the most of every delivery. Players can be trusted to assess the situation, and the conditions out there, and Virat will be no different from anybody else.
With the addition of dynamic players like Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone in the mega auction, RCB aims to continue this aggressive approach in IPL 2025, with Kohli at the helm.
