India Sweat Over Jasprit Bumrah Fitness as Champions Trophy Nears
With India set to kick off their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh, Jasprit Bumrah’s injury status remains uncertain. The star pacer is undergoing rehabilitation at the NCA, with a final decision pending. Reports suggest Harshit Rana could replace him if unfit. India, grouped with New Zealand, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, aims for a strong start.

During the build-up to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India faces uncertainty over the availability of star pacer Jasprit Bumrah. The team, set to begin its campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh, has retained most of its squad from the ongoing ODI series against England, except for Bumrah, who is recovering from an injury sustained in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bumrah’s participation remains doubtful.
Recent reports indicate that Bumrah underwent a back scan at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, with the medical team expected to update the selectors soon. Initially, he was included in India’s provisional squad, but the selectors may wait until the last moment before making a final decision. If he is ruled out, Harshit Rana is the frontrunner to replace him.
India has been in strong form ahead of the Champions Trophy, having already secured a 2-0 lead in the ODI series against England. With one more match left in Ahmedabad, the team is fine-tuning its preparations. However, missing Bumrah—India’s pace spearhead—could be a major setback to their title hopes in the highly competitive tournament.
