Jay Shah began his role as the ICC Chairman on December 1. At 36, he is the youngest to hold the position and the fifth Indian in history. Shah was elected unopposed, taking over from Greg Barclay, whose term lasted from November 2020. His term is for two years and can be extended twice.

The former BCCI secretary, Jay Shah, has arrived in Brisbane to attend a meeting with the 2032 Brisbane Olympics Organising Committee. He played a crucial role in securing cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and is now set to advocate for the sport’s continued presence in the Brisbane Olympics program.

On Thursday, Jay Shah attended the Brisbane 2032 Olympic committee meeting and shared a short video on social media, expressing his excitement about cricket’s involvement in the Olympics. He wrote about the meeting in a post on “X”:

Very exciting time ahead for cricket’s involvement in the Olympics movement – a meeting with the @Brisbane_2032 organizing committee in Brisbane, Australia today.

Jay Shah’s unexpected trip to Australia has raised questions about the timing, especially as discussions on the Champions Trophy 2025 are still unresolved. Last week, the ICC agreed in principle to host the tournament in a hybrid format, with Team India playing its matches in Dubai.
