After being the first Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain to win Player of the Match awards at both Chepauk and Wankhede in a single IPL season, Rajat Patidar has etched his name into franchise history. Appointed skipper in IPL 2025 after a mega auction and retained for INR 11 crore, Patidar has delivered instant results — leading RCB to three wins in their first four matches.

In Chepauk against CSK, he smashed 51 of 32 balls to guide RCB to victory and clinched the Player of the Match award. He followed it up with a blistering 64 off 32 balls against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede, propelling RCB to a massive 221 and sealing a thrilling 12-run win. This rare double has never been achieved by any RCB captain before.

With 161 runs at an average of 40.25 in four games, Patidar has shown leadership under pressure and a knack for delivering in hostile venues. However, his high was slightly marred when the BCCI fined him INR 12 lakh for a slow over-rate during the MI clash. Despite that, Patidar’s performance has added fresh hope and energy to RCB’s IPL 2025 campaign.
