Mumbai Indians, KKR Among Five IPL Teams Bidding for The Hundred
IPL teams submit their bid for the Hundred league, being organised by the ECB. The Board announced 49% stake of the eight teams of the tournament, where franchises Mumbai Indians, Lucknow SuperGiants, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have shown interest.
Some reports have stated that five IPL teams, namely Mumbai Indians, Lucknow SuperGiants, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad are the franchises who have submitted their bids for the Hundred. This is a 100 ball cricket league being run by the English Cricket Board.
The GMR group has been announced as the new owner of the Hampshire team, and along with him, Avram Glazer, who is the co-owner of Manchester United Football club also submitted their bids for the tournament. It was done before the deadline set by the ECB for the investors, which was 18 October, says ESPNcricinfo.
The England Cricket Board has invited 49% bid for the eight teams in the Hundred league. The reports said that,
Expressions of interest could be for all eight teams, which would be culled to four in the next step which will start in November when the investors get to meet the host counties of each Hundred franchise.
The reports further continued by saying that,
Following that, investors would need to prune their wishlist to four teams, as part of the second stage, which will then come down to two teams of which they would need to make their final choice.
It was also reported that the England Cricket Board will be finalising the investors by the initial few months of 2025. However, they are deliberate to ensure that there is no underselling for the teams, as they are a valuable product.
It also talked about the IPL teams submitting their bids, where the reports said,
Punjab Kings opted out, while there has been no confirmation on whether five-times IPL champions Chennai Super Kings and equity major CVC Capital Partners, which owns Gujarat Titans, have submitted bids.
