MS Dhoni Hints at IPL Retirement Decision – “My Body Will Decide in 10 Months”
MS Dhoni has revealed he’ll take 10 months to decide on continuing in the IPL, citing his body’s response as key. At 43, the CSK legend has scored just 76 runs in 4 matches this season, fueling retirement talks. However, Dhoni remains content with his career and proud of his legacy.

When it comes to MS Dhoni’s future in the IPL, the former Chennai Super Kings captain has made it clear that he is in no rush to decide. Speaking on a podcast with entrepreneur Raj Shamani, Dhoni revealed that he has 10 months to assess whether his body can cope with another season, as he will be turning 44 by the end of IPL 2025. While he remains committed for now, Dhoni emphasized that his physical condition will ultimately determine his decision, not public opinion or pressure.
So far in this IPL season, Dhoni has struggled to make a significant impact with the bat, scoring only 76 runs across four matches. This has led several experts to suggest that the time may be right for him to move on. However, Dhoni remains unfazed by the criticism. He said he is satisfied with everything he has achieved in his career and believes that no one can alter the runs or records he has already made for India.
In a nostalgic moment, Dhoni also expressed a heartfelt desire to see legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, and Yuvraj Singh play together once again, each in their prime, a team he considers truly unmatched.
