IPL 2025: Unknown Facts That Will Blow Your Mind
The IPL 2025 season is nearing an end, with the playoffs also midway through, and it has been so far the best for the fans. This season has been great for some teams like Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Mumbai Indians, as they made it to the playoffs in a dominant way.

But the other teams had a close call or a miserable season, as they prepared to come back in the next edition. When it comes to stats, Sai Sudarsan holds the Orange Cap with 679 runs, while the Purple Cap is held by Noor Ahmad with 24 wickets. However, there are a few other facts related to the current IPL season that will shock the fans. Have a look at this blog to learn about these fascinating stats, which took place in the IPL 2025 season.
Highest Score Chased
The current edition of the Indian Premier League saw a few games breaching the score of 225, but these games favoured the chasing team. The highest score chased in the 2025 edition was done by Sunrisers Hyderabad against the table toppers, Punjab Kings, in the 27th match of the tournament. Punjab won the toss and decided to bat first in the away game. Captain Iyer took charge, as he scored 82 runs off 36 balls, helping Punjab Kings to finish at the mammoth score of 245 runs. Harshal Patel took 4 wickets for SRH, and also got some support from Eshan Malinga, who bagged 2.

Chasing the target came out of the SRH batters, who were already struggling with their form in the recent matches. But Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, the most destructive openers in the IPL lately, made sure that the ball was smashed down every corner of the park. As a result, they made a massive opening stand of 171 runs, after which Head lost his wicket to Chahal. But Abhishek Sharma continued his aggressive batting style, which led to his century in just 40 balls. He later got out at the score of 141, as SRH managed to chase down the total with 8 wickets and 9 balls remaining.
Lowest Total Defended
The IPL 2025 edition has been dominated by bowlers and batters equally, which can be known by this fact. In the 31st match of the season between Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, the home team made it possible with their remarkable bowling line-up. Winning the toss at their home ground, Punjab thought it would be great to bat first in this game, but things didn’t turn out well. Although the openers gave a good start to the team, they were still unable to score well and got all out at the score of 111. Prabhsimran Singh was the top scorer for the team with 30 runs, as Harshit Rana took 3 wickets for KKR.

What looked to be an easy chase was brought down by the Kolkata Knight Riders early, as the team lost both of their openers in the first two overs. Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi took the game very close with their 55-run stand for the third wicket. But following that, the team trembled to the spin attack of Punjab Kings, being led by Yuzvendra Chahal. Even after losing consecutive wickets, the team still had hopes with Andre Russell on the crease. However, Marco Jansen took the matter into his own hands, bowling out Russell. Thus, Kolkata Knight Riders got all out at the score of 95, allowing Punjab to win by 16 runs.
Highest Score by an Uncapped Player
The uncapped players have also dominated in the IPL 2025 season, with some impressive performances coming from them in almost every game. But when it comes to the highest score this season by an uncapped player, Priyansh Arya holds the top spot, for his century against Chennai Super Kings in the 22nd match. Playing his first IPL season, he made sure to make an impact in the game against CSK, starting the match with a six against Khaleel Ahmed. Although wickets were falling from the other end, Arya made his intent clear throughout.

With 7 fours and 9 sixes, he left no corner of the ground when it came to scoring runs. This helped the youngster to reach his century in just 39 balls, and he also broke the record of the fastest century by an uncapped player in IPL history. The way he smashed three consecutive sixes against a bowler like Matheesha Pathirana shocked the selectors and commentators, given the talent this youngster holds. In the end, Punjab Kings went on to win the game by 18 runs, and Priyansh Arya also received the Player of the Match award.
Most Ducks
Rahul Tewatia, playing for Gujarat Titans, holds the unwanted record of most ducks in the IPL 2025 season. He saw a dip in his recent form in the tournament, due to which Tewatia has registered 3 ducks till now, as the Gujarat Titans head on to their next game against the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. Although Rahul Tewatia is known as a reliable finisher for the team, smashing the balls off the park in the death overs, this season would be the one he wishes to forget, considering this unwanted record.

He also previously held the record of most innings by a finisher not getting out on a duck, but unfortunately, that record also came to an end in the current season. With the strength and dominance of the Gujarat Titans in their top order, Tewatia received a few chances to score runs this season as compared to the others. Despite going for a duck in three innings, he was still able to help the team finish the game against the Mumbai Indians in a league stage match, defining his spirit to play match-winning knocks.
Highest Score in Powerplay
IPL 2025 has seen massive scores in the powerplay, like the previous edition, but surprisingly, no team was able to reach the score of 100 in the first six overs of the game. But the highest score by the end of the powerplay in the current season is still being held by Sunrisers Hyderabad, who scored 94 runs in the power play against Rajasthan Royals. Playing at their home ground, Hyderabad were batting first, and known for its dominant form with the bat, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head came down to open the innings.

Although Abhishek Sharma got dismissed in the 4th over after scoring 24 runs, Ishan Kishan came at number three to carry on the team’s run rate in the powerplay. Accompanied by Travis Head, they helped Sunrisers Hyderabad score 94 runs in the first six overs of the match. Another interesting fact is that this score came in the 2nd match of the season, and is yet to be broken by any team with the tournament coming to an end. This impressive partnership between them helped SRH score 286 runs with the loss of 6 wickets, and the team went on to win the game by 44 runs.
Points Difference Between 4th and Last Team
This IPL fact is not just related to the 2025 season, but to all the IPL seasons combined, as it talks about the points difference between the fourth team and the last team in the standings. The fourth spot is also the last team to reach the playoffs, as the points difference between them and the last-placed team determines the level of competition in each season. Mumbai Indians, the five-time champions, finished 4th this season with 16 points in the league stages. But on the other hand, Chennai Super Kings finished at the last spot with just 8 points in the league stages.

2024 | Royal Challengers Bengaluru | 14 | 6 | Mumbai Indians | 8 |
2025 | Mumbai Indians | 16 | 8 | Chennai Super Kings | 8 |
With Mumbai having just double points as compared to Chennai, the points difference between them also comes out to be huge. However, it has not always been like that, as some seasons even saw the bottom-placed team having a huge points difference from what the fans could ever imagine. In the 2013 IPL season, Sunrisers Hyderabad, placed at 4th, and Delhi Daredevils, placed at the last spot, had a point difference of 14. This remains the highest in history, as the difference between Mumbai and Chennai comes closer to the top spots.
