IPL 2025: Shashank Singh’s Instagram Bio Sparks Speculation Over PBKS Departure
Shashank Singh removes the name of Punjab Kings from his Instagram bio, sparking news of his departure from the team ahead of the IPL Mega Auction. The uncapped player rule allows the team to retain players for 4 crore each, which might be a high price for Punjab to retain him.
The Mega Auction for the IPL 2025 season is approaching, as the teams also have to submit their retention list by 31st October. Amidst this, fans have started to show concerns about Shashank Singh and his upcoming season for the Punjab Kings (PBKS), as the team’s retention list has not been released yet.
There were some reports which said that Shashank Singh is likely to be retained by the team through the uncapped player rule. But the recent speculations reveal that he might be released by the team ahead of the Mega Auction. Recently, he removed Punjab Kings from his Instagram bio, which has made the fans think whether he’ll be retained or not.
In the IPL 2024 season, it was revealed that Shashank Singh was wrongly bought by Punjab Kings. But he gave an impressive performance for the team, scoring 354 runs in just 12 games at a massive average of 44.25. He also had a strike rate above 164, with his best score being against Kolkata Knight Riders, which proved his worth to the team. With the new uncapped player rule, Punjab Kings might not be willing to retain Shashank Singh for 4 crore INR.
Shashank Singh on Other Franchises
Shashank Singh talked to the reporters about his IPL future, saying that,
That is something which is going to happen in October-November, that is too long from now. There can be so many things happening in between that. Obviously, it would be good to play for the same franchise, but there are a lot of good franchises, apart from Punjab as well. I’m just hopeful that I play and excel in IPL because after last year, I have stopped expecting everything. I am grateful to God that this year I got an opportunity. I’m just hoping that next year also I get an opportunity.
