IPL 2025 Mega Auction in Saudi Arabia? Likely Dates and Details Revealed!
The BCCI is considering the final week of November for the IPL mega auction, with November 30 likely to be the date. While discussions about the venue are still in progress, Dubai is one of the options being explored.
The IPL 2025 mega auction is expected to be held on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, though an official announcement from the BCCI is still pending. Franchises have already been given a heads-up about the likely dates.
While London and Singapore were considered, Saudi Arabia is now the leading choice due to its favourable time zone for broadcasting. Last year’s auction was held in Dubai, continuing the region’s role in hosting major IPL events.
Official Announcement Awaited
Though the BCCI hasn’t made an official announcement yet, franchises have been given an informal heads-up about the schedule. Last year’s auction took place in Dubai, and this year, the event will once again be held in the Middle East. Sources suggest that the BCCI and IPL officials are in the final stages of locking down a venue that can accommodate the 10 franchise delegations, along with large crews from Jio and Disney Star, over the course of three days.
IPL Franchise’s Preparation
Franchises, however, are still waiting on official confirmation so they can begin visa applications and handle logistics. The ten IPL franchises are already deep in discussions ahead of the mega auction, finalising their retention plans. IPL 2024 finalists, Sunrisers Hyderabad, have taken Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, and Abhishek Sharma as their top priorities, with Travis Head and Nitish Kumar Reddy also in consideration.
Delhi Capitals are focusing on Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav as their key picks, but there’s still uncertainty around the captaincy. The team has reshuffled its support staff, with Hemang Badani set to take over as head coach and Venugopal Rao replacing Sourav Ganguly as Director of Cricket. They’ve also added Munaf Patel as bowling coach, with official announcements expected soon.
