SRH Gets the Job Done with their Fiery Knocks
SRH, led by captain Pat Cummins, won the toss and chose to bat first on a batting-friendly Delhi pitch. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head set the tone early, racing to 50 runs in just 3.4 overs. Abhishek, known for his aggressive strokeplay, smashed 32 off 16 balls, including four fours and two sixes, before falling to Sunil Narine in the 6.5th over. The duo’s 92-run opening stand in 6.5 overs gave SRH a blistering start, with 79 runs coming in the mandatory powerplay.
Travis Head continued the onslaught, hammering 76 off 40 balls with six fours and six sixes. His 26-ball fifty was a display of controlled aggression, though he got a reprieve on 54 before holing out to Andre Russell off Narine in the 12.4th over. By then, SRH were 175/2, with Heinrich Klaasen, promoted to No. 3, already in full flow. Klaasen’s arrival turned the game into a spectacle. He raced to a 17-ball fifty, one of the fastest of the season, and didn’t stop there. His 37-ball century, featuring seven fours and nine sixes, was the joint third-fastest in IPL history. Klaasen’s unbeaten 105 off 39 balls powered SRH to 278/3, with 24 extras (14 wides, seven leg byes, two byes, one no-ball) inflating the total.
Ishan Kishan, batting at No. 4, played a supporting role with 29 off 20 balls, including four fours and a six, before falling to Vaibhav Arora in the 18.3rd over. Aniket Verma’s quick 12* off six balls, with a four and a six, added the finishing touches. The 50-run second-wicket stand between Head and Klaasen came in just 20 balls, while the third-wicket partnership with Kishan added 83 runs in 35 balls.

KKR’s bowlers struggled to contain SRH’s onslaught. Sunil Narine was the pick, taking 2/42 in four overs, including the wickets of Abhishek and Head. Vaibhav Arora claimed 1/39, dismissing Kishan, but others bled runs. Anrich Nortje (0/60 in four overs), Varun Chakravarthy (0/54 in three overs), Harshit Rana (0/40 in three overs), and Andre Russell (0/34 in two overs) were taken apart. KKR’s 14 wides and a no-ball didn’t help, as SRH’s batsmen capitalized on every loose delivery.
KKR Fails to Get a Proper Start
Chasing a daunting 279, KKR needed a miracle. Openers Quinton de Kock and Sunil Narine started briskly, scoring 37 runs in 3.3 overs before Narine fell for a fiery 31 off 16 balls (three fours, three sixes) to Jaydev Unadkat’s off-cutter. Captain Ajinkya Rahane, batting at No. 3, hit 15 off eight balls with three fours but was caught off Unadkat in the 5.3rd over.

De Kock’s scratchy 9 off 13 balls ended in the 6.5th over, caught by Abhinav Manohar off Eshan Malinga, leaving KKR at 61/3. The middle order crumbled under pressure. Rinku Singh (9 off six, one six) and Andre Russell (0 off one) fell in quick succession to Harsh Dubey, with Russell trapped lbw first ball.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi, the impact substitute, managed 14 off 18 before Malinga struck again. At 76/5 after nine overs, KKR’s hopes were fading. Manish Pandey and Harshit Rana offered some resistance with a 52-run eighth-wicket stand in 19 balls, but it was too little, too late. Pandey scored 37 off 23 (two fours, three sixes) before holing out to Unadkat, while Rana’s 34 off 21 (two fours, three sixes) ended with a caught-and-bowled by Malinga in the 18.4th over. Vaibhav Arora was run out for a duck, and KKR were bowled out for 168.

TCNI’s Magic Moment of the Game
The 2nd over of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) innings against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on May 25, 2025, in Delhi was the TCNI’s Magic Moment of the Game, as it kicked SRH’s batting into high gear. Anrich Nortje bowled this over, but it went for 20 runs, giving SRH’s openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, a flying start. Nortje began with a dot, but Head smashed a huge six over deep backward square leg off a fast 142kph short ball. Next, a quick ball hit Head’s thigh for a leg bye.
Abhishek then lofted a ball straight over Nortje’s head for four, perfectly placed.
Nortje lost control with a short ball way outside off, which sailed for five wides as Quinton de Kock couldn’t reach it. Abhishek kept going, chipping a ball over cover for another four, even with one hand off the bat. The over ended with a dot on a slower ball, but SRH were 37/0 after two overs. Head (15* off 6) and Abhishek (16* off 6) looked unstoppable. Nortje’s 1-0-20-0, with speeds up to 148kph and those wides, handed SRH the upper hand, setting up their massive 278/3 and a huge 110-run victory.
TCNI’s Hero of the Day
For the game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 25, 2025, in Delhi, there are two TCNI’s Heroes of the Day: Jaydev Unadkat and Harsh Dubey. Their brilliant bowling spells turned the tide, helping SRH defend their massive 278/3 and bowl out KKR for 168 in 18.4 overs, securing a 110-run victory. Unadkat was exceptional, taking 3/24 in four overs with an economy of 6.00. He dismissed Sunil Narine (31 off 16), Ajinkya Rahane (15 off 8), and Manish Pandey (37 off 23), breaking KKR’s top order with his clever cutters and tight lines, bowling 12 dot balls.
Dubey, the impact substitute, matched Unadkat’s haul with 3/34 in four overs, removing Rinku Singh (9 off 6), Andre Russell (0 off 1, lbw first ball), and Ramandeep Singh (13 off 5). His 10 dot balls and knack for big wickets crippled KKR’s middle order. Chasing 279, KKR’s hopes faded after Unadkat’s early strike and Dubey’s double blow in the eighth over, leaving them at 70/5. Despite Harshit Rana’s 34 off 21 and Pandey’s late fight, KKR couldn’t recover. Eshan Malinga’s 3/31 supported, but Unadkat and Dubey’s spells were the game-changers, ensuring SRH’s dominant win.
