Are Mumbai Indians All Set to Lift Their 6th IPL Trophy in 2025?
Mumbai Indians delivered a dominant performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad, winning by 7 wickets with 26 balls to spare. With Trent Boult’s 4/26 and Rohit Sharma’s 70, MI chased down 144 comfortably. This marked their fourth consecutive win in IPL 2025, pushing them to 3rd place on the points table. Are they now charging toward their sixth IPL title?

Mumbai Indians won the Indian Premier League in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. They have completely dominated the League and performed their best. However, after the 2020 season, there have been some poor seasons in the tournament, where the team has struggled a lot and hasn’t managed to do its best. They even finished last in the points table in the 2024 season.
However, after the 2024 season, the IPL 2025 season has proved perfect for the team as they are back to winning ways. This season, the Mumbai Indians look much more settled. Players are performing, and the team is fighting hard in every match. After playing 9 games so far, they have earned 10 points and are currently placed third in the points table. If they keep playing like this, a spot in the playoffs looks very likely. In the 5 wins so far, Mumbai Indians have had 5 different Man of the Match winners, which shows that the team has been doing well.

2024 was a forgettable season when nothing went right, and they finished at the bottom. But 2025 has been a completely different story. The team has made a solid comeback and is once again playing like a champion side. Fans finally have something to cheer about again. With the team back in form and the winning momentum on their side, Mumbai Indians might now be seriously eyeing their sixth IPL title.
Dominance of the Mumbai Indians Batting Unit
The IPL 2025 has been amazing for the Mumbai Indians, especially with their batting unit finding its rhythm at the perfect time. After a slow start to the season, the five-time champions have now won four matches in a row, and a key reason behind this resurgence is the return to form of their big-name batters. Led by the calm and class of Rohit Sharma and the explosiveness of Suryakumar Yadav (SKY), MI’s batting order is now clicking on all cylinders.

Rohit Sharma, who faced early criticism in the tournament for inconsistency, has answered his critics with two consecutive half-centuries. In 8 matches, he has scored 228 runs at an average of 32.57 and a strong strike rate of 154.05, with a top score of 76 not out*. His ability to accelerate in the power play and build a foundation has been crucial. At the heart of MI’s batting brilliance has been Suryakumar Yadav, who continues to shine with his 360-degree game.
SKY has scored 373 runs in 9 innings, remaining not out on 3 occasions, and averaging an excellent 62.16. His strike rate of 166.51, along with 2 half-centuries and 19 sixes, proves how lethal he has been in the middle overs. Tilak Varma has emerged as one of the most consistent young guns, scoring 233 runs in just 7 innings with two fifties and an impressive average of 46.60. His ability to rotate strike and find boundaries when needed has added much-needed stability to the middle order.

Naman Dhir, often coming in late, has shown promise with 130 runs at an average of 32.50 and an eye-catching strike rate of 178.08, proving to be a handy finisher. Riyan Rickelton, too, has chipped in reliably with 215 runs and a steady average of 26.87. Even skipper Hardik Pandya has started showing glimpses of his batting prowess, scoring 104 runs at a strike rate of 170.49. Though yet to post a fifty, his intent and impact have been clear, especially in finishing roles.
Mumbai Indians Bowlers Stepping Up Their Game in IPL 2025
Just like the batsmen, the bowlers of the Mumbai Indians have played a big role in the team’s impressive comeback in the IPL 2025 season. After a disappointing run in IPL 2024, the franchise has bounced back strongly, and their bowling attack has been one of the key reasons behind this turnaround. With a mix of youth and experience, Mumbai’s bowlers have shown great discipline, skill, and the ability to deliver in crucial moments of the match.

The pace duo of Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar has been instrumental with the new ball. Boult, with 10 wickets in 9 games, has not only taken wickets up front but has also been very economical in the powerplay. His best figures of 4 for 26 highlight how dangerous he can be when conditions favour swing. Alongside him, Chahar has been excellent at keeping the pressure on the opposition early in the innings.
In 9 matches, he has picked up 8 wickets, and his best of 2 for 12 shows his ability to keep things tight and pick up key breakthroughs. Their opening bursts have regularly given Mumbai early momentum, setting the tone for the rest of the bowling unit. Once the powerplay is done, Jasprit Bumrah comes into the attack and does what he does best, controls the middle overs.

Bumrah, though having played only 5 games, has been very economical with an economy of just 7.90 and 5 wickets to his name. His ability to keep things quiet and deliver yorkers at will helps build pressure and create opportunities for wickets at the other end. Supporting them are Hardik Pandya, who leads the wicket chart for Mumbai with 12 scalps, and youngsters like Ashwani Kumar and V Puthur, who have also chipped in well. Pandya even picked a five-wicket haul, showing his growing influence with the ball.
