Ben Stokes Pulls Out of The Hundred 2025! Ashes Preparation Takes Priority
England's Ben Stokes has withdrawn from The Hundred 2025 to focus on Test cricket and recover from a hamstring surgery requiring three months of rehab. He will skip the IPL 2025 and the Champions Trophy, aiming to return for Durham in the County Championship before England's home Test series against India, starting in June.

For the upcoming season, Ben Stokes has opted out of The Hundred 2025 to focus on his fitness and prioritize Test cricket. The 33-year-old England captain is recovering from surgery for a torn left hamstring, requiring three months of rehabilitation. This decision comes ahead of the crucial Ashes 2024-25 series in Australia, starting November 21 in Perth.
Stokes, who had a disappointing run in The Hundred last year with only 14 runs in five matches at an average of 3.50, suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Northern Superchargers. After consulting with head coach Andrew Flintoff, he decided to skip the 2025 edition.
The all-rounder has also withdrawn from the IPL 2025 Mega Auction and was not selected for the 2025 Champions Trophy squad. He is expected to return to action for Durham in the County Championship before England’s home Test series against India in June.
The Hundred 2025 will begin on August 5, right after England’s five-match Test series against India. This series marks the start of the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, with both England and India eager to gain early points after missing out on the 2025 WTC Final.
