Women’s Premier League 2025: “Life has definitely changed after our victory…” Shreyanka Patil Shared Her Feelings Ahead of WPL 2025
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) gears up for the 2025 Women's Premier League (WPL) as defending champions, with star spinner Shreyanka Patil expressing pride in their achievement. Following their maiden title win, RCB has bolstered its squad through strategic domestic acquisitions, aiming to maintain dominance in the upcoming season.
As Royal Challengers Bengaluru prepares to defend their Women’s Premier League title in the 2025 season, spinner Shreyanka Patil reflects on the journey and its significance. RCB made their cult fanbase with their men’s team in IPL which was led by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and the saga continued with their WPL franchise also.
RCB clinched their first WPL title in 2024 under Ellyse Perry’s leadership, defeating Delhi Capitals in a commanding eight-wicket victory. Shreyanka Patil’s remarkable four-wicket haul in the final not only secured the win but also earned her the Purple Cap with 13 wickets in eight matches at an average of 12.08.
Shreyanka shared in a recent franchise release:
Being the defending champions is a big tag for us, and I’m still processing it. I feel like it will truly sink in once the season camp starts, and then I’ll be like, “Okay, fine, I’m into the next one”.
Post-victory, Shreyanka experienced an overwhelming outpouring of support from fans. She added:
Life has definitely changed after our victory. Coming from Delhi to here, the way RCB fans cheered for us and showed so much extra love was something I had never experienced before. When I returned home after the win, there were about 100 people outside my house, making noise… People from all over Karnataka, from various places, came to my house to celebrate.
RCB’s 2024 season saw standout performances from Ellyse Perry, who claimed the Orange Cap with 347 runs, and Shreyanka’s dominance with the Purple Cap. With a balanced mix of seasoned stars and emerging talent, RCB is poised to retain its crown in the 2025 WPL.
