West Indies vs Bangladesh Test match has reached a critical stage as Bangladesh capitalized on their slim 18-run first-innings lead to establish a commanding 211-run advantage on Day 3 at Sabina Park. Central to this turnaround was Mehidy Hasan Miraz, whose counterattacking 42 off just 39 balls revived Bangladesh’s innings after an early setback.

Promoted to No. 4 in the batting order due to Mominul Haque’s illness, Mehidy showcased fearless intent, smashing four consecutive boundaries in an electrifying display. His partnership with Shadman Islam added a quick 70 runs off 74 balls, lifting the team to 193-5 by stumps.

Mehidy’s leadership extended beyond his batting. Earlier, Nahid Rana’s maiden five-for (5-61) had dismantled the West Indies, who collapsed from 85-1 to 146 all out. Rana’s fiery spell included dismissing Kraigg Brathwaite (39) and Keacy Carty (40), the only West Indies batters to reach double figures. Mehidy’s decision to step up the scoring rate was instrumental in exploiting the absence of Kemar Roach, sidelined for much of the innings due to a shoulder injury.

With five wickets in hand and a growing lead, Bangladesh aims to level the series. Mehidy’s bold performance has put the visitors in a strong position to challenge the hosts.
