James Anderson Eyes The Hundred After IPL Snub

For the 2025 edition of The Hundred, England’s legendary pacer James Anderson has entered the draft after going unsold in the IPL auction. At 42, Anderson remains eager to compete, despite retiring from international cricket as the highest wicket-taking fast bowler in Tests. Though primarily known for his red-ball expertise, he believes the swinging conditions in The Hundred suit his skills, expressing confidence in his ability to contribute.

If selected, Anderson would become the second-oldest player in The Hundred’s history, behind South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir, who played in 2022. Other players to feature in the tournament in their 40s include Michael Hogan, Wayne Madsen, and soon, Faf du Plessis. Anderson’s last franchise appearance came in the 2014 T20 Blast for Lancashire.
