Ivory Coast etched their name in cricket history for an unwanted record as they registered the lowest total in men’s T20Is, bowled out for just seven runs in 7.3 overs against Nigeria during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier Group C. This single-digit collapse broke the previous lowest T20I total of 10, a record shared by Mongolia (vs Singapore, 2023) and the Isle of Man (vs Spain, 2022).

Nigeria’s emphatic 264-run victory ranks as the third-largest margin of victory in men’s T20Is, behind Zimbabwe’s 290-run triumph over Gambia and Nepal’s 273-run win against Mongolia.

Batting first, Nigeria posted a daunting 271 for 4, with the help of Selim Salau’s scintillating 112 off 53 balls, supported by Sulaimon Runsewe’s rapid 50 off 19 balls. The duo added 128 runs in just 10 overs, while Isaac Okpe’s blistering 23-ball 65 not out added the finishing touches.

In response, Ivory Coast crumbled under Nigeria’s bowling attack. Left-arm spinner Isaac Danladi and quick Prosper Useni claimed three wickets each, while Peter Aho and Sylvester Okpe contributed to the rout. Ivory Coast’s opener Ouattara Mohamed top-scored with four runs, as the rest of the batting lineup failed to withstand Nigeria’s dominance.
