The Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season saw an emotional farewell for Bengal wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha, as he played his last First-Class (FC) match against Punjab at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Saha, who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, was given a special send-off by the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) and his teammates.
Before the match, Saha was felicitated by the CAB and presented with a signed jersey. During the match, Saha received a guard of honor from both his Bengal teammates and the Punjab team, acknowledging his illustrious career.
Saha, known for his exceptional skills behind the stumps, has amassed over 7,000 runs in domestic cricket at an impressive average of 48.68, with 14 centuries and 44 fifties. He also represented India in 40 Tests, scoring 1,353 runs at an average of 29.41, including three centuries.
His last Test appearance for India came in December 2021 against New Zealand. Despite a disappointing first innings in his final match, where he was dismissed for a duck, Saha aims to end his career on a high in the second innings. His retirement marks the end of an era for Bengal cricket.
