With the IPL 2025 season approaching, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have roped in Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur as a replacement for injured pacer Mohsin Khan. Mohsin, who recently resumed bowling in LSG’s training camp, suffered a calf strain, forcing him out of the tournament. Known for his effective bowling, Mohsin has been plagued by injuries, including a previous ACL injury.

Shardul Thakur, who went unsold in the last mega auction despite a base price of INR 2 crores, now gets a wildcard entry into IPL 2025. Spotted training with the LSG squad, Shardul will travel with the team to Visakhapatnam for their opening clash against Delhi Capitals. The experienced campaigner has featured in 95 IPL matches, claiming 94 wickets at an average of 30.52 and a strike rate of 19.85. Apart from his bowling, his ability to contribute with the bat in the lower order adds depth to LSG’s lineup.

Meanwhile, another LSG pacer, Mayank Yadav, is also doubtful for the season due to a back injury. Known for his raw pace, Mayank is yet to receive fitness clearance. LSG will be hoping Shardul’s inclusion helps stabilize their injury-hit pace attack as they gear up for a competitive IPL 2025 campaign.
