Rohit Sharma Breaks Silence on Impact Player Role After Smashing CSK with Match-Winning 76

Rohit Sharma, after his unbeaten 76 against CSK, shared he’s fine being MI’s Impact Player in IPL 2025, though he misses full-game involvement. The ex-captain, recently sidelined with a knee issue, admitted it's tough to connect without fielding. Rohit also expressed heartfelt gratitude after Wankhede Stadium honored him with a stand named in his name.

In the latest twist of IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians legend Rohit Sharma made headlines by embracing the Impact Player role, despite reservations. Rohit smashed an unbeaten 76 against Chennai Super Kings, proving he’s far from done. Used predominantly as a batter this season, Rohit hasn’t taken the field often, with MI preferring to deploy him exclusively for batting duties due to a recent knee issue.

While he said he “doesn’t mind” the Impact Player tag, Rohit admitted it’s not ideal. “It’s not easy when you haven’t fielded for 17 overs. But if the team wants it, I’ll walk in and bat”, he said post-match. The knock came days after he skipped the game versus the Lucknow Super Giants due to his injury.

Amid his on-field brilliance, Rohit also shared a heartwarming moment and reacting to the stand named after him at Wankhede Stadium. “It’s a huge honour. As a kid, I wasn’t even allowed inside. To now have a stand in my name… I don’t know how to react”, he said emotionally.

With MI gearing up to face Sunrisers Hyderabad next, all eyes will be on whether Rohit continues his red-hot form and how long he’s content staying in the Impact Player shadow.
