Rohit Sharma Breaks MS Dhoni’s Record with 13 Consecutive ICC Wins
Rohit Sharma led India to their second consecutive ICC title, winning the 2025 Champions Trophy after defeating New Zealand by four wickets. He now holds the record for most consecutive ICC wins (13), surpassing MS Dhoni’s 12-match streak. India, unbeaten in the 2024 T20 World Cup, became the third team after West Indies and Australia to win back-to-back ICC trophies.

With the Champions Trophy 2025 victory, Rohit Sharma has surpassed MS Dhoni’s record for the most consecutive wins by an Indian captain in ICC events. India defeated New Zealand in the final, successfully chasing a target of 252 with four wickets in hand. This marks Rohit’s second consecutive ICC title as captain, following India’s triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Rohit now holds an impressive record of 23 wins in 24 ICC matches as skipper, with his only loss coming in the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia. His current winning streak stands at 13 matches, surpassing Dhoni’s 12 consecutive victories achieved between the 2012 T20 World Cup and the 2014 edition.
India’s unbeaten run in the 2024 T20 World Cup saw them win eight straight matches, including the final against South Africa. In the Champions Trophy, Rohit led India to five consecutive wins, bringing his tally to 13. With this achievement, India has become only the third team in men’s cricket to win back-to-back ICC titles, joining West Indies and Australia. Rohit’s leadership has transformed India’s 2023 heartbreak into consecutive international triumphs, cementing his legacy among the country’s greatest captains.
