Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Rising Star Nitish Kumar Reddy Set to Boost Andhra Pradesh in Ranji Trophy
Nitish Kumar Reddy, the Team India all-rounder praised for his performance in Australia, is expected to play in the second phase of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. His participation will offer a valuable chance for continued development, especially amid ongoing discussions about the importance of domestic cricket.
In the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia, Nitish Kumar Reddy was impressed with his performance, playing all five Tests. On his debut in Perth, he scored 41 and 38. He also achieved his maiden Test century during the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, marking a successful start to his international career.
In five Test matches, the young cricketer scored 298 runs at an average of 37.25. He also took five wickets with the ball, averaging 38. Although India lost the series 1-3 to Pat Cummins’ team, Reddy stood out as one of the best discoveries for India in the series.
Sanjay Manjrekar, the former India batter, believes Nitish Kumar Reddy’s impressive batting performances in the Border Gavaskar Trophy could create selection dilemmas for India. Manjrekar also pointed out that Reddy still has room to improve his bowling skills, despite his strong contributions with the bat. He said:
It’s not going to be easy. He’s got the fundamentals, so that’s a long journey for him to become even a bit like Beau Webster, who looked good as a bowler. That’s going to be a headache now for India because he’s played the kind of innings that you don’t see too many people playing.
The second-highest run-scorer for India in the 2024-25 Border Gavaskar Trophy, Nitish Kumar Reddy is set to play for Andhra Pradesh in the remaining Ranji Trophy matches. He has only played one Ranji match this season before his time with the team in Australia.
