After the Delhi Capitals clinched a dominant win over Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025, a light-hearted moment between KL Rahul and Kevin Pietersen stole the spotlight. During the dressing room celebrations, Rahul, who scored a composed 57 off 42 balls, cheekily requested that mentor Pietersen present his post-match medal. Their ongoing banter, which began earlier in the season, has become a fan-favorite subplot.

It started when Rahul reminded Pietersen of his old jibe comparing Rahul’s batting to “watching paint dry”. Since then, Rahul has continued the playful exchanges, including a jab at Pietersen’s mid-season trip to the Maldives. In the match, Delhi chased down a 160-run target in just 17.5 overs. Rahul, coming in at No. 3, stitched a 69-run partnership with opener Abhishek Porel (51 off 36), showing control and maturity with three sixes and three fours.

Axar Patel finished the game with a quickfire 34 off 20 balls. The victory moved Delhi Capitals to second place on the points table, tied at 12 points with Gujarat Titans after eight games, only behind on net run rate. Delhi’s next clash is set against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 27.
