The Indian women’s cricket team produced a commanding performance in the first ODI of their three-match series against the West Indies, cruising to a 211-run victory at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Sunday, December 22. The win was built on a strong all-round effort, but it was Harmanpreet Kaur’s exceptional fielding that stole the show, garnering respect from the critics of world cricket.
In the 11th over of the West Indies chase, Aaliyah Alleyne attempted a powerful shot off Renuka Singh’s fuller-length delivery. As the ball soared towards the mid-on boundary, Kaur, positioned strategically, leaped high into the air, executing a stunning one-handed catch. The catch not only halted a potential boundary but also showcased Kaur’s remarkable reflexes and athleticism. The dismissal of Alleyne for 13 runs was a key moment in the game, adding to the growing pressure on the West Indies.
