Cricket Bloopers: Slap Video Resurfaces, Harbhajan & Sreesanth Trend in Meme Mania

Cricket fans do know about the incident that took place between Sreesanth and Harbhajan Singh in the inaugural edition of the IPL. Harbhajan Singh reportedly slapped Sreesanth after the game, but the original video of Harbhajan slapping him never came out on the internet, and many fans thought that the video was never actually recorded.

But recently, things took a dramatic turn during a podcast between Lalit Modi and Michael Clarke. During the podcast, they talked about the incident that took place between Sreesanth and Harbhajan, and even showcased the unseen footage of the same. After 18 years, when fans finally got to see the incident, they took it to Twitter for a meme fest.

Once More Bhajji

The incident that took place between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth happened approximately 18 years ago. And in the video, it can be seen that Sreesanth couldn’t even defend himself against a senior player like Harbhajan Singh. He was also seen crying while a few of his teammates stepped in to control the situation from escalating.

Sreesanth has been much more active on social media these days, and he has been posting his gym workout images and videos. Reacting to the video, which has gone viral, a fan challenged Harbhajan Singh to do the slap incident again to Sreesanth. He even posted a video of Sreesanth’s muscular body, indirectly saying that things won’t be the same this time.

Turning IPL to WWE

The slap incident, which took place between these two Indian players, was thought by the fans to be not captured on camera till the original video was released. Before that, the scenario that took place between Mitchell Starc and Kieron Pollard during an IPL match between the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore was a fan favourite.

A Twitter user compared both these incidents, saying that the moment Pollard threw his bat over Starc, it was more like a WWE scenario, where players forget that they are on the field as professionals. Maybe he wanted Sreesanth and Harbhajan Singh to deal with some more blows and make IPL an Indian version of the WWE?

Light Blow

When the original video of the incident between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth was not released, fans thought that Harbhajan must have hit him too hard. Even in the earlier released videos, the years of Sreesanth could tell that he got hurt not just mentally, but also physically. But after the video got released, some fans are still thinking that the slap was not as tight as they thought.

One of them even said that it was just a light slap, and Dhoni used to hit like this to everyone. We have seen Captain Cool smash his teammates hilariously, sometimes with the bat and sometimes with his gloves, and comparing such a scene with the light-hearted moments of MS was a great way to calculate the slap velocity.

We Had Expectations Sreesanth

Upon the release of the video during the podcast between Michael Clarke and Lalit Modi, fans were intrigued to see how both players reacted immediately after the incident took place. Sreesanth was seen to be unhappy with the slap, as he was immediately calmed down by his teammates and even the opposition players.

However, fans decided to take trolling to the next level, using the iconic Bollywood movie, Golmaal. Lucky was one of the funniest characters in the movie series, and in the initial stages, he used to get slapped a lot by his friends, where his reaction was a lot funnier than expected. A Twitter user said that he expected such a reaction from Sreesanth also in this video.

Boys Do Make Mistakes

The scandal that took place between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth was way back during the initial season of the Indian Premier League. After the scene, both players even went on to play for several years together for the Indian cricket team. Although the incident resurfaced a number of times, Harbhajan Singh also apologized to Sreesanth for the same.

However, the unseen video of the same being released by Lalit Modi and Michael Clarke was just like reopening the wounds. To this, a Twitter user reacted hilariously by using the famous dialogue of an Indian politician, “Ladke hai, Galti ho jati hai.” This was a great way to calm down all the fans who must have gotten angry for what Harbhajan did to Sreesanth almost two decades ago.

Did He Just Predict the Internet?

The video was posted by Lalit Modi on his social media platforms and was immediately also seen by users on Twitter. Taking a look at the scene, which is almost 18 years old, one of the Twitter users even said that this is now about to go viral. Over the next few days, we could only see this going all around the internet.

His reply to the video came shortly after it was posted, and it turned out to be true. The video received so much attention from the fans that even Sreesanth’s wife posted some stories on her Instagram account, where she showcased her anger over the actions taken by Lalit Modi, much time after the incident actually took place. Both players were moved on from the same.

Reignite the Flame

Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth surely had some strained relations at the time this incident took place in the Indian Premier League. But following that, both worked very well together to ensure that they are able to contribute the best to the Indian cricket team. Even years after the incident, Harbhajan Singh apologised to Sreesanth for the actions he took.

Things surely were good between these two former Indian cricketers, and the time at which Lalit Modi released the video might be too late. Reacting to this, a fan said that Lalit Modi is eager to reignite the old flames and create some more tensions between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth.

Sreesanth Should Learn From Aussies

Taking a look at the video that went viral involving the altercation between Sreesanth and Harbhajan Singh, fans have two different opinions. Some say that Sreesanth didn’t hit back, which wasn’t good of him, while others also say that it was a great decision by Sreesanth to showcase his maturity even at a big stage. On the other hand, some fans even remembered the previous incidents involving Harbhajan Singh.

One of the most famous incidents involving him, which took place before slapping Sreesanth, was the monkeygate scandal, involving Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds. Reacting to the video, which has gone viral on social media, a Twitter user criticised the way Sreesanth went without reacting much and even said that Aussies know well how to deal with Bhajji.

Another Slapgate Incoming

After the slap incident took place between Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth, both players surely had some strained relations with one another. Knowing that they would be playing together for the national side, they decided to come together and even sorted out the scenes that took place in IPL 2008.

Even in various interviews, Harbhajan Singh said that he always felt guilty of the actions he took on Sreesanth in the IPL match. But Lalit Modi posting the video of him slapping Sreesanth, almost 18 years after the incident, might have triggered Bhajji even more. To this, a Twitter user even said that it is now likely that Harbhajan Singh will slap Lalit Modi.

Hidden for Long

The video of Harbhajan Singh slapping Sreesanth was never seen on social media. Although fans saw the reaction of Sreesanth after the same, where he was seen in tears, none of the videos actually showcased how hard Bhajji slapped him. But the video being finally released by Lalit Modi, fans have named it a new angle unlocked.

A Twitter user even said that this video was not available on YouTube or any other social media platforms for almost two decades. It didn’t only show that Lalit Modi is good at hiding the unseen footage of the IPL, it also showcased that fans were eager to see Sreesanth being slapped by Harbhajan Singh for all these years.
