BCCI Snubs Ishan Kishan Again! No Central Contract Despite IPL Heroics
Despite smashing a century in IPL 2025 and working his way back into India A, Ishan Kishan is set to remain out of BCCI’s central contracts. The board feels he hasn’t done enough after his previous fallout. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer, who led Mumbai to a SMAT title and excelled in Ranji Trophy, is set for a contract return.

As the BCCI prepares to announce its central contracts, reports suggest that Ishan Kishan will not be reinstated despite his strong performances in IPL 2025 and for India A. The left-handed batter was removed from the central contract in late 2024 due to a dispute with the board. Despite scoring a century in IPL 2025, sources indicate that Kishan has not done enough to regain his place.
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer, who was also dropped for skipping domestic cricket, is set to be reinstated. Over the past year, Iyer has led Mumbai to a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) title and impressed in the Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup. He was also India’s leading run-scorer in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, despite not playing T20Is, will retain their A+ grade contracts due to their stature in Indian cricket. The BCCI acknowledges their contributions and believes they deserve respect. The contract decisions highlight the board’s emphasis on domestic performances and discipline while also valuing experience at the highest level.
