Babar Azam Surpasses Virat Kohli to Become Second-Highest Run-Scorer in T20Is
Babar Azam has overtaken Virat Kohli as one of the top scorers in T20I cricket. He reached this milestone during the third and final T20I match against Australia at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Monday, November 18.
Sahibzada Farhan opened with Babar Azam but was dismissed for 9 by Spencer Johnson in the second over, giving Pakistan an early setback. After Farhan’s departure, Babar took charge, playing responsibly to steady the innings. He batted with confidence, displaying great intent and hitting some excellent boundaries to ensure his team didn’t come under too much pressure.
In a 31-ball partnership with Haseebullah Khan, 44 runs were added, putting some pressure on the hosts. During the innings, Babar surpassed Virat Kohli to become the second-highest run-scorer in T20Is. However, shortly after reaching this milestone, he was dismissed by Adam Zampa in the 13th over. Zampa’s googly tricked him as he stepped forward, missed the ball and was bowled.
After scoring 41 runs off 28 balls with four boundaries, Babar was dismissed by Adam Zampa, marking the third Zampa has taken his wicket in T20Is. His impressive knock brought his total T20I runs to 4,192, placing him second on the all-time scorers list, just behind Rohit Sharma.
With Mohammed Rizwan rested by the team management after losing the first two the first two T20Is, Salman Ali Agha took over as captain for the dead rubber match. Agha won the toss and chose to bat first.
