Sikandar Raza, the captain of Zimbabwe, accepted the penalties imposed by Match Referee Andy Pycroft, a member of ICC’s Elite Panel. The decision came as a major blow to the team, especially after their close loss to Afghanistan. The players were left disappointed but acknowledged the ruling, emphasizing the need to avoid similar in the future.

Under ICC’s Article 2.22 for minimum over-rate offenses, players are fined five percent of their match fees for each over if their team fails to bowl on time. The penalties were imposed by on-field umpires Iknow Chabi and Forster Mutizwa, along with third umpire Percival Sizara and fourth umpire Langton Rusere. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza accepted the decision without challenging it.

Sikandar Raza’s team had a mixed run in the three-match T20I series. Zimbabwe started strong with a win in the first game, but Afghanistan bounced back to claim victory in the next two matches. This turnaround helped the visitors secure the series with a 2-1 result.

In a tense and low-scoring final T20I, Zimbabwe struggled after being sent into bat by Afghanistan. The hosts lost wickets at regular intervals, making it hard to build momentum. However, Brian Bennett showed resilience and held his ground at one end, keeping the team’s hopes alive.
