India’s former cricket captain Sourav Ganguly narrowly escaped injury after a terrifying car accident on the Durgapur Expressway in West Bengal. Ganguly was traveling to Burdwan University for a scheduled event when a lorry suddenly overtook his convoy, forcing his driver to apply sudden brakes. This led to a chain collision involving three vehicles, including Ganguly’s Range Rover, which sustained minor damage. Fortunately, everyone, including Ganguly, was unharmed, and after a brief 10-minute halt, he continued his journey to the university.

Despite the incident, Ganguly attended the event, interacted with students and dignitaries, and spoke about Indian cricket’s future and his personal experiences. He expressed his happiness at being in Burdwan, highlighting the district’s long-standing connection with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), which has produced many talented cricketers over the past 50 years.

Earlier this year, Ganguly’s daughter, Sana Ganguly, was also involved in a car accident in Kolkata but escaped without injuries. Currently, Ganguly serves as the Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals women’s team in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). He temporarily left the team due to a gap between matches but is expected to rejoin them ahead of their next game against UP Warriorz on February 22.
