Mitchell Santner Appointed Captain of New Zealand’s T20 and ODI Squad for Sri Lanka Tour

New Zealand Cricket recently announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka for three ODIs and two T20Is. This tour is set to begin for the team in Dambulla on November 9. The New Zealand Cricket also confirmed that Mitchell Santner will be the captain for the team in the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.

However, it was also added that Santner will be the interim captain in this series. A new captain for the Kiwis in the white ball format will be announced in the summer by the cricket board. The upcoming series against Sri Lanka will be New Zealand’s first ODI this year, and the team will be playing T20Is after a long time since they got eliminated at the group stages in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

New Zealand’s Squad

The squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka has been announced by New Zealand Cricket. Along with Mitchell Santner, the spin department will also have Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips, and Ish Sodhi. The pace department of the team will be having the experienced Lockie Ferguson, along with players like Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, and Josh Clarkson.

Tim Robinson was able to perform well in the series against Pakistan, due to which he has been included again in the team. Henry Nichols and Will Young will also be a part of the team’s strong batting line-up. However, some notable players like Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Rachin Ravindra, Tim Southee, and Kane Williamson, have been tested for the upcoming series.
