Former Indian cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar believes that senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma might be playing their final Test series during the upcoming matches against Australia. He pointed out that both players have struggled with form recently, as seen during India’s 3-0 series whitewash defeat against New Zealand, raising concerns about their future.

In the statement, Manjrekar said:

If there was another home series now after this and another one after that, then it would have been something that maybe the selectors would have contemplated. But now because the next series is going to be in Australia, which is going to be a completely different ball game. And you look at the numbers; those are depressing numbers, to say the least. Similar conditions, you would worry about the Indian batting line-up. But when you go to Australia, it’s completely different. What you’ll get is mostly pace and bounce. And that was the thing that wasn’t exposed in these two battles when they were playing.

Sanjay Manjrekar has expressed concerns over the recent form of Indian veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, suggesting that their upcoming Test series in Australia could be pivotal. He noted that while both players struggled significantly during the recent whitewash against New Zealand, the conditions in Australia will be different. Facing challenges such as Nathan Lyon and adapting to Australia’s pitches will test their skills and resilience.
