Hero Who Saved Rishabh Pant Now Fights for His Own Life
Rajat, who saved cricketer Rishabh Pant's life in a 2022 car accident, attempted suicide with his girlfriend, Manu Kashyap, due to family opposition to their inter-caste relationship. After saving the life of Rishabh Pant in a car accident on December 30, 2022, 25-year-old Rajat is now fighting for his own life after consuming poison alongside his girlfriend, Manu Kashyap. Tragically, Manu, aged 21, did not survive. The couple, who had been in a relationship for five years, took this extreme step due to family opposition over their different castes. Reports suggest that both families had arranged separate marriages for them, with Manu’s wedding scheduled for March.
On Sunday at 4 PM, Rajat and Manu left their homes in Buchcha Basti village, Muzaffarnagar, and consumed poison in a sugarcane field. Two hours later, a villager discovered them and alerted their families. They were rushed to Pragya Hospital in Jhabreda, Haridwar, but Manu succumbed at 4 AM on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rajat remains critical.
The girl’s mother has accused Rajat of poisoning her daughter, prompting an investigation by the Purkaji police. Authorities await Rajat’s recovery for further statements. Rajat, who works in a mill, had previously gained national attention for rescuing cricketer Rishabh Pant from his burning vehicle after a highway accident. Pant later gifted him a scooter in gratitude.
