Aaryavir Sehwag displayed his immense talent in the Cooch Behar Trophy, smashing a remarkable 297 runs off 309 balls for Delhi against Meghalaya. The young opener showcased his aggressive batting style, hitting 51 fours and three sixes during his stay at the crease, falling just three runs short of a triple century.

Virender Sehwag, proud of his son’s performance humorously commenting about his son’s great knock:

Well played @aaryavirsehwag. Missed a Ferrari by 23 runs. But well done, keep the fire alive and may you score many more daddy hundreds and doubles and triples. Khel jaao..

Aaryavir’s knock was pivotal in Delhi’s innings, starting with a solid 180-run opening stand alongside Arnav Bugga, who contributed 114. His most impactful partnership came with Dhanya Nakra (130), as the duo put Meghalaya’s bowlers under severe pressure with a 228-run stand for the third wicket.

Sehwag shared somemore words about his son’s dream of participating in IPL. He said:

The IPL has benefited young talent the most. Earlier, nobody got notices from Ranji Trophy performances and hence couldn’t make it to the Indian team. But now, if you perform well in the IPL and you showcase your talent , then immediately, you get an opportunity to play for the Indian team. Because of the IPL….best to participate in the IPL and strive hard for it.

Aaryavir’s innings ended heartbreakingly at 297 when RS Rathor bowled him, denying the young batter a much-deserved triple century. Nonetheless, the innings has drawn attention to his potential, as he continues to make waves in domestic cricket, stepping out from the shadow of the legendary career of his father.
