With the match between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars in the 6th game of the BBL 2024 at Adelaide Oval, the Strikers emerged victorious by 15 runs. After being sent to bat, the Strikers posted a competitive 165/6 in 20 overs. D’Arcy Short starred with a crucial 60 off 42 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes, while Alex Ross contributed 35 off 26 balls.
Adam Milne and Peter Siddle impressed with the ball for the Stars, each taking two wickets at an economy rate of 8.00 and 5.25, respectively. In reply, the Stars managed 150/9, falling short of the target despite Sam Harper’s valiant 48 off 44 balls. Marcus Stoinis provided a brisk 27 off 19, but the middle and lower order faltered. Lloyd Pope’s stellar bowling (3/21 in 4 overs) dismantled the Stars’ lineup and earned him the Player of the Match award. Matthew Short (2/23) and Jamie Overton (2/44) also chipped in with key breakthroughs.
Henry Thornton’s economical spell (1/16 in 4 overs) further tightened the screws. The win gives the Strikers 2 points, placing them mid-table with one win and one loss, while the Stars remain winless after three games.
