Arshdeep Singh Becomes India’s T20I Wicket Maestro, Wins Praise with Apology to Chahal
Arshdeep Singh becomes the leading wicket-taker for India in the T20I format, taking two wickets in the first T20I match against England. After the game, he also apologized to Yuzvendra Chahal, taking over his record as India's leading wicket-taker.
India and England went against each other in a one-sided T20I match at the Eden Gardens. The Indian team started off the 2025 season well in the T20I format, as the team secured a win over England by 7 wickets, leading the series by 1-0.
While Abhishek Sharma was the star with the bat, Arshdeep Singh continued his dominance with the bowl. Abhishek Sharma scored 79 runs off 34 balls with 8 sixes, while chasing a meagre score of 133. On the other hand, Arshdeep Singh secured two wickets and Varun Chakravarthy also shined with the bowl, taking 3 wickets for the team.
This match came out to be one of the memorable ones for Arshdeep Singh, as he overtook Yuzvendra Chahal to become the leading wicket-taker for India in the T20I format. Earlier this record was held by Yuzvendra Chahal, who had 96 wickets in 79 innings. But Arshdeep Singh secured it to his name, with 97 wickets in 61 innings.
Following this, Arshdeep Singh also gave an apology to Yuzvendra Chahal with folded hands, which came in as a warm gesture from the youngster.
