Anshul Kamboj, The Rising Star Who Made History with a 10-Wicket Masterclass
On Friday, Anshul Kamboj made history by becoming just the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to take all 10 wickets in a single innings. This remarkable feat places him among an elite group of bowlers in the tournament's records.
On the third day of the fifth round match in Lahli, Kamboj tore through Kerala’s batting lineup, dismissing all four of their top scorers, each of whom had reached fifty runs, by the tea break. This incredible performance led him to achieve the rare milestone of taking all 10 wickets in an innings and he also crossed 50 First-Class wickets in his 19th match.
By the end of the previous day, Kamboj had already taken eight wickets. Early the next morning, he bowled out Basil Thampi for his ninth wicket and soon after dismissed Shoun Roger, securing his 10-wicket achievement. This wrapped up Kerala’s first innings for a total of 291 runs. Kamboj’s outstanding final bowling figures were, 30.1 overs, 9 maidens, 49 runs and 10 wickets.
Anshul Kamboj became just the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to claim all 10 wickets in a single innings. The first to achieve this rare feat was Premangsu Mohan Chatterjee for Bengal in the 1956-57 season, followed by Pardeep Sharma, who took 10 wickets for Rajasthan against Vidarbha in the 1985-86 season.
Kamboj has joined an elite group of Indian bowlers, becoming the sixth to take 10 wickets in a single First-Class innings. Other famous names on this list include legendary spinners Anil Kumble, Subhash Gupte and Debasis Mohanty, each known for their remarkable achievements in cricket.
