The 27th match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2024 concluded with an incredible run chase by Sydney Thunder Women, who successfully chased down 171 runs with just 3 wickets down in the 19th over. This thrilling victory earned them two valuable points, propelling them to the top spot in the points table.

The match, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, saw Perth Scorchers Women elect to bat first. Thanks to a brilliant knock from Beth Mooney, who scored 97 runs off 64 balls, the Scorchers posted a challenging total of 170/5 in 20 overs. Sophie Devine also contributed with 44 runs from 33 balls. In the bowling department, Taneale Peschel was the standout, taking 3 wickets for just 28 runs in 4 overs.

In response, Sydney Thunder Women began their chase confidently. Georgia Voll was the star of the run chase, producing a match-winning knock of 97 not-out from 56 balls. Voll took control of the chase, hitting boundaries at crucial moments, and remained unbeaten until the end. She sealed the victory with two consecutive boundaries in the 19th over, guiding her team to a well-deserved win.
