In the Knockout match of the Women’s Big Bash League 2024, Sydney Thunder Women secured a commanding 6-wicket victory over Hobart Hurricanes Women to advance to the Challenger against Brisbane Heat Women. The Hurricanes batted first and posted 126/6 in their 20 overs. Skipper Elyse Villani was the standout performer, scoring an unbeaten 53 off 42 balls, including 6 fours and 1 six.

Lizelle Lee contributed 23 off 26, but the rest of the batting faltered against a disciplined Thunder bowling attack. Chamari Athapaththu and Taneale Peschel shone with the ball, each taking two wickets. In reply, Sydney Thunder chased the target in 19 overs, led by Player of the Match Phoebe Litchfield. She delivered a stellar performance, scoring 46 off 36 balls, laced with 5 fours and 1 six, and taking three catches.
