Twitter Erupts as Team India gets major Rohit Sharma Boost Ahead of Afghanistan ODI Series
India received a timely boost ahead of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan as Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya reportedly cleared their fitness tests and are set to rejoin the squad. Rohit had been recovering from a hamstring problem, while back spasms sidelined Hardik during IPL 2026.
As the Indian team gets ready for the ODI series against Afghanistan, there is some good news on the fitness front. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya are expected to return after completing their fitness tests. Both players picked up injuries during IPL 2026 while playing for the Mumbai Indians and have spent the last few weeks recovering. Rohit was dealing with a hamstring problem, while Hardik was recovering from back spasms that kept him out towards the end of the IPL season.
With both now fit, they are likely to be available for all three matches against Afghanistan. There is, however, a setback for India as Virat Kohli has been ruled out. The former captain suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final while helping Royal Challengers Bengaluru defend their title. According to chief selector Ajit Agarkar, doctors are still monitoring Kohli’s recovery, and a clear return date has not been decided yet. Kohli’s absence has opened the door for Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been included in the ODI squad.
The series begins in Dharamsala on June 13 before moving to Lucknow on June 17 and Chennai on June 20. India will enter the series with confidence after their dominant performance in the recent one-off Test against Afghanistan, in which they secured an innings-and-300-run victory.
