Top 5 Bowlers with the Best Career Bowling Average in T20 Internationals

Bowling in T20 internationals is generally considered one of the hardest parts of the game. Because batsmen are aggressive hitters, there are smaller ground sizes, and bowlers experience a lot of pressure to keep runs to a minimum, it is common for bowlers to have to change their styles to simply survive.

The most commonly used statistic to measure bowlers’ effectiveness in international matches is the bowling average; it tells cricket fans how many runs a bowler has given away for every wicket he takes. The lower that number is, the more effective that bowler is at breaking partnerships as they keep down the rate at which runs are scored.

Many world-class bowlers throughout history have been able to put up outstanding statistics in this area (i.e., have an excellent career bowling average) despite the challenges that those bowlers face in T20 international cricket, which has shown these bowlers to possess great control over their delivery as well as the ability to take wickets effectively. Below is a listing of the five best bowlers as far as career bowling averages are concerned, within men’s T20 international cricket.

As of October 2023, J Coetzee of Thailand has the highest T20 International Bowling Average at 9.18. He’s taken 44 wickets in 26 T20 Internationals and only given up 404 runs, showing how remarkable he is for being so consistent.

The big difference with Coetzee is his ability to consistently take wickets, while at the same time controlling the runs scored against him. His best T20 International bowling figures of 5/10 illustrate that he can change the course of a match through his bowling. Coetzee also maintains an economy of under 5 runs per over, which is very rare among all bowlers in T20 cricket and demonstrates his effectiveness under pressure.

Ranked as the world’s second-ranked T20 bowler based on a 10.49 bowling average, Ugandan cricketer Alpesh Ramjani, also the associate cricket leading wicket-taker (102 in 65 T20I), has played a critical role for Uganda by both being a wicket-taker and a bowling performer with excellent control.

His T20I best bowling performance is 5/17, which allows him to apply constant pressure on batters so that he can weaken the batter line-up of the opposition and therefore limit the opposition’s total runs scored.
